Requirements to start

Comfortable clothing
You don't need any special equipment for your first class.

Do I need previous experience? +

What is the school's approach? +

We train Hapkido as a complete martial art and as a path of personal formation: technique, discipline, coordination, consistency and judgment. We do not reduce the practice to a single objective; each technique is studied according to its context.

What are the benefits of practicing? +

It improves coordination, mobility and fitness, develops discipline and attention, and offers the progressive learning of a complete martial art in an environment of respect.

Are falls taught? +

Yes. Falls are a central part of the program from white belt, and are learned safely.

Can I train if I'm no longer young? +

Yes. Training adapts to the age and condition of each practitioner. Hapkido is cultivated at any age.

Is there a grading program? +

Yes. Ildokwan has a technical program from 5th Gup to 1st Dan. You can see it in the Technical program section.

Does the school belong to an international organization? +

Yes. Ildokwan was founded in South Korea in 1996, has been headquartered in Daegu since 1999 and is a member of the International Hapkido Central Federation — IHCF. It also has branches in Santiago, Chile and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
